i just sent it my withdrawal from drexel's waitlist yesterday...don't know if that helps any but best of luck!

I called the admissions office today and was told by a lady that the waitlist has not moved yet. I'm not sure how much credence we should put into this (since I doubt she's on the committee), but that is what I was told. I'm on the waitlist too, and i'm trying desperately to be patient. I was browsing last year's threads on regarding the waitlist at Drexel and it seems as if there was already movement by this time last year.
 
I interviewed almost 8 weeks ago 3/30 and still have not heard anything from them.
 
Thanks so much Thegandlighs. That makes me feel a little better. It's so hard to be patient, I would just feel so much more settled if my life was figured out. I'm sure you can relate 🙂

st85: it took them 10 weeks to get back to me, and I interviewed at the end of Jan.
 
I understand the stress. I wish I could know now because I'm going to be in the middle of nowhere for 8 weeks at the end of the week. I keep panicing that my mom is going to miss a phone call or I won't have access to a computer in time.


btw Lisa what happened to the wine glass? Although the baby is cute.

I gave up wine...NO, that's not possible. I don't know, just saw the baby one on AIM and decided to try a change.

Anyone know how Drexel will contact us if we end up getting of the waitlist?

(I haven't been this psychotic since last fall when I was checking the "interview" thread)
 
I've been really busy with moving out of my appartment and trying to get some certification stuff for the summer. I will be having alot of fun this summer and hopefully it will be enough for me not to worry about school. I'm going to be a medic at a boy scout camp. 🙂 Last time I was there I was the aquatics director, and those boys were really good about doing exactly everything I asked them to do. 😉 I'm sure it had nothing to do with me being the only girl in a bathing suit. :laugh:


It looks like last year Drexel used mail and email to contact people.

I'm currently in a grad program at Drexel Coll of Med. and I have heard people (students) talking about how the class of 2008 is going to be cut by 25 students. What this means (if it is true) is that they need 25 more accepted students to withdrawl this year as compared to previous years before the waitlist starts to move. This could explain the latency with this year's waitlist movement relative to last year's, and why they were telling interviewees that interviewed late in the cycle that they were no longer giving acceptances, just rejections and waitlist spots (although I think the latter is a relatively common practice at larger schools).
I can't stess enough that this in not in anyway confirmed by the AdCom...it's just hearsay - it may or may not be true.
Sorry to be the bearer of potentially bad news 🙁 , but I thought I'd pass on the info.
If it helps any, I withdrew 2 weeks ago. Also, I've seen posts from several other students that have declined their acceptance as well...Best of luck.
 
CaptainZero, I think you're right. I have friends in the 1st and 2nd year that have told me the same thing. They are cutting the class down by 25-30 because of the recent closing of MCP hospital, they're are not enough rotations for everyone. Next year, I hear they are going to cut it down even more to 175. I withdrew from the waitlist as well, good luck to you all
 
Well I withdrew my Drexel acceptance by email a couple of days ago but they haven't responded. So I don't know if they received it. Just thought I would add that.

can anyone confirm or deny the report that they are reducing the class by 25 students? that could be significantly bad news to us waitlisters.
 
read somewhere else that Dr. Tunkel who is the associate dean answered someone's email confirming that there would be 25 less students enrolled.
 
I just withdrew my Drexel acceptance. I didn't realize I was considered accepted since I never sent back my acceptance letter weeks ago. Sorry for squatting on this spot!

I haven't talked to Drexel yet. It really sucks that there doesn't seem to be any WL movement yet. I expected there to be something starting 2 wks ago.

Someone mentioned that last year it looked like mostly email and snailmail (off of SDN). Can anyone confirm this? (PLEASE let it be email!)

I just called Drexel, and they HAVE started pulling people from the waitlist. Upon looking up my social security number, however, she told me that I'm still on it. yay. I didn't ask if they inform those who get pulled off my snail or e-mail.

Do you think that it will move quickly? Do they review them in batches, or is it ranked? Does anyone even know this information? They keep telling me to call them if I haven't heard by the end of July, which is when orientation is!

I interviewed on 3/31. I was told by the lady in the Admissions Office that my file would be reviewed this week or next, and received an acceptance today (snail mail).

Still waiting for mine as well - and I interviewed on April 15th - hope this doesn't mean I'm gonna wait till July to hear from them.
 
My interview was 3/14 and I haven't gotten a response yet either! I'm dying over here. I do know it just got reviewed last Thursday though, so hopefully I'll be getting something very soon!

I interviewed late April and called the office yesterday. The lady told me that my file was under committee review and to call back today to find out the decision. Called today and she said that they've made a decision and it will go out in the mail next Monday...

I'm guessing either waitlist or reject... 😕
 
I called yesterday and was also told that a decision was made and will be mailed out... it also seems that the waitlist started moving before they looked at my file. Is that a bad sign?
 
How are you guys able to get through their automated system? I have acalled several times and it seems impossible to get to speak to an actual person.

Accepted today, by snail mail, interviewed Mar. 22, sent one update letter second week of April, waitlisted on or about 10 April (same week I sent the update letter), accepted June 2 (date on letterhead), postmarked June 3rd and letter arrived in vic. Washington, DC June 5. I am accepting. Good luck everybody.

To those of you that have heard the great news, would you mind sharing when you were put on the waitlist and any other insight you may have on the waitlist process?

Fellow Drexel waitlistees, did we ever establish whether Drexel has finished ranking students on the waitlist (are we even ranked)?

To those who actually spoke to the admissions office, did they give any indication on whether all the first batch of waitlist acceptances were going to be sent out Friday? Do we have any idea on when the next batch will be sent out based on last year?

Sorry to ask so many questions! I'm just also having difficulty getting straight answers from the office.

I'm still waiting as well. I'm hoping to hear something soon, but I interviewed the first week of May. I sent an e-mail to check on my status (haven't heard back yet) but I will try calling and pressing "0" tommorow. Good luck to everyone! 🙂
 
I don't think anyone that has been accepted off the waiting list has posted here yet. I think those that have posted for the last few days saying they've been accepted are ones that were accepted outright after their interview.
I'm fairly sure that Drexel uses a ranked waitlist. However, I don't know if they have finished ranking everyone yet.

As for contacting the admissions office, i've never really had trouble speaking to a live person. I just listen all the way through the message and someone from the office picks up. There are a few times where no one answers and it automatically transfers you to a message machine (someone named Lorna). I've tried leaving a message.......they've never called me back.
 
I just called a woman I know in the office, and she informed me that they are completing the final review of interviewees today. The waitlist isn't ranked yet, and she expects that we'll hear in 2 weeks. Seems like the standard time frame, however. I'm starting to get pretty sick of this. It sucks, doesn't it!?

Do you mean the waitlistees will hear in 2 weeks of our rank?
 
That's what she said, although it's not definite. That's what she expects.
 
It's true that they are still reviewing files. I e-mailed them on Friday and they wrote me back today saying that my file would be reviewed on Thursday. I interviewed late so they must be finishing up soon. Good luck to everyone!
