Has anyone have any contact with the UCs lately? I haven't heard a peep out of them since I submitted my app (August MCATer).

It usually takes quite a while for them to get back to you. About a month to send you a secondary (they all screen their applicants) and then from one month to many more after you have submitted your secondary (to get an interview/hold/rejection). Good Luck!

im an august mcater too. I just got the UC Davis secondary yesterday via email. Im out of state so I dont really know how to take it, since i've read they only accept like 5 out of state people per year. However I did read that they were trying to boost diversity, including out of state representation.

I didn't take August and have been sitting on hold at UCI for two weeks now, Davis, UCLA USC no word: have been completed for months. UCSF and UCSD no secondary, now word of rejection yet :scared: :scared:

the UCs need to be pursued. meaning you gotta call and ask for a secondary. call and ask about your status. the only thing they really do by themselves is tell you that your app is complete (meaning on the status page). thats my impression of them anyway.

Hey Moto, Does it actually say you're "on hold" at UCI? I've been complete and "pending review" for over a month now. I don't know what it means or what I should do.

also August MCATer....complete at UCSF since 10.12.05....received UC Irvine secondary invite this morning at 9am. good luck!!!

Just got the UCLA secondary last night and UC Irvine this morning. WOOHOO!

Completed Davis and UCLA a while ago, but just received Irvine today too. I guess the UCs sending out secondaries now were waiting for the August MCAT scores before making decisions.

UCLA--all the stuff was in by 8/26. Though the invite/interview page has no dates for completion/invite, does it seem like I've been passed over?
UCI--the pending review can take a while. If you read through some of the older threads, you might find people who were "pending review' for several months.

awwww... crap.

thanks someperson

not to sound too pathetic, but is anyone else a mediocre-ish applicant from cali that feels really inferior to most others (californians) on this board who wonders if they'll even have the fantastic luck of being invited to interview at any of the cali schools? just wondering... i think i need to take a break from SDN to recover my confidence.

btw, congrats to all who have received invites!

I just got back from UCLA, and let me tell you, they've barely just started interviewing. In fact, my interview group consisted of only one person -- me! They interview all the way through April, and one AdCom member told me that it's a very slow and gradual process. Don't give up hope so soon, there is plenty of time.

It's easy to get discouraged because you see others interviewing already, but the UCs are indeed notoriously slow. Have faith! 🙂

That's good to hear. I was starting to get discouraged about UCLA.

Congratulations on the interview there, BTW! How was it compared to Irvine?

I feel the same way. I just called UCI and she said that they are really behind so it will probably take a while to get reviewed.

It's a bit less structured than Irvine's interview day, but it was great nonetheless. I arrived at 11:45, went on a tour/lunch (3 tour guides for 1 person! how awesome is that?!), then had an interview. The area is gorgeous, and the students are really lax and happy. They have an amazing curriculum which gives them a lot of time to pursue their own interests.

The only negative is that the hospital's a bit of a maze, and you'll probably get lost as you look around at first. There are a lot of people to ask for directions though, so you'll be fine. 🙂

I had a great time, and UCLA is right at the top of my choices 👍

So Barcelona - do you mean that you already had sent in the UCSF secondary pre-MCAT scores?
