I have applied to 7 OT schools (4 OTD & 3 MSOT), and 2 of the programs require a Kinesiology pre-requisite. I have been searching for a course since I decided to go back to school in May and still need to find a course that meets the following criteria:

- 3-4 undergraduate credit hours
- Regionally accredited college or university
- Online coursework - I am already taking a night class and need my days open for work
- Kinesiology in the course name
- An emphasis on biomechanics or physiology in the course description

Basically, it can't be too fundamental of a course; or they won't accept it. I've already asked about Intro to Kinesiology classes, which have been rejected. I need to find something ASAP, as the spring semester begins soon.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi FutureOT11
I had a college require kines as a prereq too and an option they gave me was U Mass Kines 100. It's an online course. I didn't look into it further because I decided not to attend that program, so I'm not sure if it fulfills everything you're looking for, but I hope this helps!

Look into Eastern Illinois University's Structural Kinesiology course. I have my bachelors from there in Kinesiology and by the time I was graduating they were changing courses and adding courses, so they may have added an online course of it!

Thank you both so much! U Mass is a possibility, though it's really expensive for just one class. Unfortunately, Eastern Illinois does not offer any of their Kinesiology courses online (yet). I also found an option through Athens State University, which would be mostly online with 3 campus meetings during the semester, which is feasible as it's only a 1.5 hour drive from where I live. Please keep the suggestions coming!

Thanks again for your help! I ended up enrolling in the course through Athens State University. Everything I found costs around $1100 or more because none were in my state, but in case anyone else is looking to complete this pre-requisite, here are the online options I found for this semester:

  1. Athens State University - online & meets 3x http://www.athens.edu/academics/schedules/Spring-2014-Schedule.pdf, http://www.athens.edu/catalog/2013-14/Section-5-Course-Descriptions.pdf
  2. William Carey University - online & meets 1x http://www.wmcarey.edu/sites/default/files/documents/catalogs-schedules/1314/hbsp14ugradschedule.pdf, http://www.wmcarey.edu/department-physical-education-health-and-recreation
  3. Nicholls State University - online only http://www.nicholls.edu/register/files/2012/10/Spring-2014-SOC-Revised-12-20-13.pdf, https://banner.nicholls.edu/PROD/bwckctlg.p_display_courses
