Has UCSF started sending out its secondaries?

After checking out the "From Schools that screen...blah blah" thread, there are apparently only 2 SDNers who've received the UCSF secondary. Surely UCSF standards are not THAT stringent. I guess I would be an AVERAGE applicant after looking at their stats on AMCAS...but gosh...c'mon

Also, does anyone know whether UCSF, like UCD, UCI, and UCLA screens simply based on numbers. If so, I am damned.

Another thing...i've heard that most schools that screen and send a secondary already know whether they're going to interview you or not based on the primary...rest is a gimmick to make money...this information is straight from the horse's mouth...that horse will remain unidentified😉

According to a family friend, a doc who was on the UCSF admissions committee for over 10 years and currently heads one of their residency programs, they do look heavily at #'s for the cuts, but not entirely. They highly value the personal statement, personal experiences, and activities, and they do not base the interview decisions primarily on #'s. As for the secondaries I did not apply there so I know nothing from my own experiences, but I believe that they have started sending them at least to in-state people since a friend of my roommate got one. She lives here in the city as well and I am not sure when excatly she got it. Hope that helps and good luck 🙂

UCSF standards not stringent? I dunno where you got that info, but considering only like 1400 applicants out of like 6000 get secondaries, half of whomm get interviews, I'd say it's pretty stringent.
