for those of you that are fourth years in schools that don't require step 2 early on, have you already taken it or are you gonna take it soon? i'm thinking of taking it in late may, but i'm kinda worried that my score may not be back before i have to start in mid june...

I would take it soon. Many residency programs require that you have passed step II prior to starting at their program. I think that May should theoretically be alright, but you will be cutting it close, especially if you by some chance don't pass. I'd take it earlier if possible.

I concur. Taking it sooner rather than later is the way to go. And as a tip for upcoming MS3's, I would recommend taking it at the end of "cores." The simple relief now and especially during the interviews and the god forsaken Sub-I was well worth it.

Good luck on the exam!

Good to hear...I'm planning on taking Step 2 right after third year ends...soon after my Medicine shelf.

Ditto! I'm definitely going to use QBank (like I did for Step 1), but are the Kaplan books worth the $999? I didn't use them for Step 1.

That's it, Book and Bank, read through Crush step 2, and take it. Should be more than enough. No need to pay $$$ for the Kaplan books and/or course.
