I admit it, I am officially attracted to one of my pre-med instructors and have thought about asking her out. Who else has this happened to? Surely, I am not the first. Is it wrong or of bad judgement to act on this? What if I completed her course and have no more required courses with her?

According to policies at my institution, instructors (graduate TAs) cannot be involved romantically with students when they're teaching the students in their TA capacity but after the course ends, there's nothing wrong with it in terms of policy. If you think about it, most graduate students are in their mid- to late-twenties and if you're likely around 20 as well - the age difference isn't really that big. However, since this is a pre-med instructor, you might run into problems in the future if, say, you want a letter from the professor and he or she needs to ask the TAs about your performance, etc. This creates an obvious conflict of interest.

Yeah, if a letter is the biggest thing in the way between you and a chick...

I'll write you one

Don't do it.

I noticed that you are listed as a professor. Does this happen a lot? What's the worst that could go wrong?

(There's lots of conflicting information online. Something that discouraged me was an article about if an instructor dates a former student, they might stop getting promoted. even if not breaking the rules. I hope that's not the case. If so, I might need refrain or mention that.)

Sexual relationships between professors and students are fraught with hazards for all parties including other students and professors. Even the appearance of impropriety is damaging.
The institution is also harmed. There are policies regarding such behaviors. Sometimes they are inadequate to prevent damage.

well, at most schools professors have the power to change a student's grade up until they graduate, which is why at my school professors can't date students (and I'm assuming it's similar at other schools)

I was in love with one of my chemistry professors and wished I could have asked her out, but sadly, couldn't

If this were a masters program in underwater basket weaving you'd be good, but as it stands you're involved in one of the least forgiving professional school applications processes in the country today. Don't falter.

Yes. My Gen chem 2 professor.. Until I saw a ring.
