One of my recommenders called and said that one of the osteopathic medical schools I'm applying to had left him a voice message. He asked if this was a LOR verification call. I didn't know. Thinking out loud, he said the school might be calling about one of his patients and he'd let me know. This just makes me wonder. Has this ever happen to you?

Last year, one of my recommenders sent a letter directly to the school (vs. being sent by your undergrad institution or a letter service.) The school called the doctor (where I work) just to verify that he had in fact sent the letter. I think it's just a double-check since I was currently working there at the facility that the letter was sent from. As far as I know, they didn't ask him any specifics about the letter, they just wanted to make sure it was he who sent it!
