I have heard you can't have HBV and be a dentist, but I was wondering if this pertained to being a doctor as well.

Also, I was wondering if someone could clear the specifics up as well.
As long as you've been vaccinated are you in the clear?

I don't think it's much of an issue. You'll probably be required to get the HBV vaccine series before you matriculate into med school, and certainly before you start rotations. I had to show proof of vaccination before I did away rotations at other med schools, too.

Not necessarily. The vaccine isn't 100% effective for everyone. What you have to do after you've finished the initial three vaccine series is have your HBV antibody titers drawn. If they're high enough, then you're immune. If they're not high enough, then you'll get another dose or two of vaccine. Even then, some people don't ever build up an immune response.
