I figured that there would be more people in my position on this thread than any other, so my question: I will be graduating officially in a couple weeks and am looking for some cheap PPO plan for healthy young adults. Does anyone have any health plans that they are happy with? Same thing with car insurance- any good deals out there to be had? Thanks!

also join your alumni association and see if they get special deals

if youre getting off your parents car insurance, and are going to be getting your own policy, ask that car insurance (the one your parents have) if you can get a "break off" policy. its called something like that, and you can get the same rate (or close to it) and the same # of years accident free behind you. i'm not sure of the complete details, but i know someone who works for car insurance. be sure to badger them a bit, they will probably try to say know, but EVERYTHING is negotiable 🙂

good luck!!

hi,

i always recommend www.oneshopinsurance.com they insure a lot of property for me, my family, great service, fantastic rates, what more do you need?

Let me know how you get on.

Hope this is of some use to you.

Also, you may be able to obtain health insurance through the school in which you are doing your post-bacc. For car insurance, unless you are over the age limit, see if you can't just stay on your parent's insurance for a bit. Especially if you end up in a city with good public transportation and a car is not a necessity. (Plus with high gas prices, you could save yourself a lot of money anyway.)

If you are under 25, stay on your parents policy. Esp if you are male because most likely it will cost you too much. Also depending on where you are going to school. If you can't do that (for whatever reason) I would stick with the big names out there in insurance and ask your parents agent etc.

As for health insurance, go with your schools policy. Unless you are a healthy individual who never goes to the doctor (and you have no preexsisting conditions) and you just want "major medical" coverage which you can find for about $75/mn. ehealthinsurance.com and search the net. There are some decent health insurance plans out there but I would HIGHLY suggest going with your schools plan esp if you are going to live near campus. It will be ALOT cheaper for you (trust me, I'm doing the same thing and looking for healthinsurance for my husband and myself now b/c for a spouse with school health ins its EXPENSIVE!)

Oh and this post is probably a salesperson who scours forums looking for questions like these. This is his only post and first post, little suspicious.

I've always liked Geico for car insurance. I went with a lot of other agencies, and Geico seemed to be the cheapest.

Note: this is not an endorsement for their quality of coverage. I always have had "just in case" insurance to keep me covered (other guy's health & car, not my own) and found their prices to be some of the best around. Never had to deal with them post-accident.
