Hi, I have a question that is specific for DMU students but anyone can chime in with pertinent info. My wife will be working in Des Moines but she still needs to be hired and then health insurance benefits will kick in after 30 days. Anyway, the DMU health info states that to waive the school's plan you must either have coverage through a spouse's employer OR a government sponsored plan. We basically need just a few months of gap coverage but it seems that gap coverage applies to students going off of DMU's plan, and it looks like they want you to use Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Do you know if DMU will accept this gap coverage during the small time of my wife's unemployment? Any clue if they would accept a high deductable option such as Humana One?? Sorry this is so long, thanks a million
