I haven't heard anything thus far from 4 schools. Is it true that most schools are waiting for mid Feb/March to send out massive rejection letters? I was rejected from NYU who said they are sending out rejection letters in FEB. Are all schools doing this?
How many hearts do you think will be broken by the end of this month?
Is it safe to conclude that if you haven't heard anything from a particular school (in 3-4 months after last contact) that you might be on their rejection list?

No no no - cut the sappy violin playing. Let's not get all down just yet. I was complete at one school back in August, and I JUST got an interview invite like last week for this month (5 months of not hearing anything). So there's still hope! Just hang in there :)

I'm with Mellow
each passing day statistics mount against you..."rolling admissions" is a bitch

lol E'01....I couldn't help it. Okay about this one....I interviewed back in Nov at this out of state school and all I have heard is that my file is coming up for review in Feb....aka...rejection time. How can I cheer up about that? My back-up schools are now becoming my #1 schools and my state schools are showing me no luv.
On the other side, I had a dream last night (it seemed soooo real) that I got acceptance into a medical program and was really really happy.... :D then I woke up.

Maybe that dream is a sign.....a sign not eat anymore spicy chicken wings before going to bed.

You are not alone Mellow! I have not heard a word from about 8 schools. Today, I rush out to the mailbox only to get a credit card application and a swimsuit catalog. I get more frustrated with each passing day.

Mellow..I swear I had the same dream 2 nights ago! I woke up, and I was like DAMN it was just a dream!
BTW I have not gotten any mail at all for 5 days and I've very frustrated with the mailman's conspiracy to make me suffer.

Mello you gots to chill and M-e-l-l-o-w out :) Yours is coming soon - I can feel it. That dream is a good sign. You didn't only just apply to 4 schools right? I know silly question. If it makes you feel any better, I'm waiting to hear from 5 schools.

BTW I still have not heard anything from 13 schools since completion.

You're frustrated when the swimsuit issue comes? Dang!! I would be jumping for joy!!

LOL

Mossjoh•••••Well...Considering that I am female and it is 25 degrees outside, the swimsuit catalog does not exactly appeal to me at this moment! :)

I was going to say the same thing about the swimsuit catalogs.

Mmmmmmm, swimsuit catalogs....

God, I am sad.

Do you have any acceptances E'01? Because if you do then we are on separate boats. I am soo scared of not getting accepted to a program I feel like I will just explode when it comes down to it. I applied to 8 schools-I've gotten 2 rejections, 2-interviews, and 4 drop deads! I shouldn't be paranoid because there are people out there without interviews yet. I am praying though. I check my mail/email/voicemail every 15 minutes....hoping something will come through. But you know what.....this board has really helped me maintained my peace of mind....everyone here has been really supportive and will make great doctors one day.

Medical123- Which swimsuit catalog was that.....it might come in handy if I have to apply to medical school in the caribbean  . Do you think that's what it means/is that a sign?

Mello I guess we are in separate boats - BUT I just wanted you to keep the faith and hang in there. I know it's hard - trust me, I had the carribean med schools apps nearby and ready to fill out just in case. Can I ask why is is that you only applied to 8 schools? PLease don't feel obliged to answer.

I applied only to 8 schools because....Well I am broke:(
My Mcats were below 30...closer to 25...so that limits my choices of schools to apply to. I am on the east coast and to me it feels like competition here is soo fierce that I might not receive a secondary or might receive one and get rejected anyway. I spoke to several dean of admissions at a several schools (way back in april) and they told me to select my schools wisely, choose the ones you actually stand a chance to get into and also choose some that are a little out of range.I was told a lot schools will take my primary and secondary appl. money without seriously considering me....which happens a lot. If I had a 33 on the MCAts, I would apply to 13 schools because I know my chances at one are great. Life sucks but you have to play with the hand you are dealt and that's what I was doing, so far I had 2 interviews. I know people who scored in the 30's and haven't heard anything. I tried to be realistic in the application process.....I am not going to waste my money and apply to J.Hopkins/Duke with my silly scores. I applied to schools that are more likely to look at my entire application rather than just my scores. I called each school I applied to and asked the dean that particular question(will they screen by Mcats alone or review your entire package) before I applied. I asked for the truth because I don't like to waste peoples time and I don't like MY time/money/effort wasted. ...so there you have it my sad story....and here goes the violin again

Hey Mellow, did you call the schools and ask about your status. I found out about interviews weeks sooner by doing that. The mail is so screwed up it takes four days for it to travel four feet, and ad coms are so swamped that they are way behind on sending e-mails. Call and see what they say. At least you will know, and cheer up. One year off won't kill you. I've been there. Think of it as a time to actually get to enjoy a portion of your life before you get down to some serious studying and work.
