Greetings to all SDNers. I have been reading and getting advice from this forum for about two years now but never registered. I have found the information provided here to be very informative and I am inspired when I read about the determination of so many who have been accepted to dental school. Congratulations to all those accepted this cycle and to those not yet accepted, stay strong and keep the faith (myself included). First, a little about me. I am a non-traditional student who re-applied to college with a negative GPA about four years ago. At this point I have a CGPA 3.48 and SGPA 3.1 and have taken the DAT on Feb 6th with TS 19 AA18 PAT17 and am only applying to my state school, UNLV. I know that I am a very late applicant, even though the prevailing advice on this forum is to APPLY EARLY. Things are what they are and I am fortunate to receive an interview at UNLV on April 13. At that time I'm sure it would only be for waitlist, so my question is, is there anyone who has an earlier interview time at UNLV who might be cancelling? I would be so appreciative(sp) if you could please contact me so that I may be able to fill that spot. I stay in contact with the admission people and check to see if there are any cancellations and since I live in Las Vegas, I could make it with little notice. I have lived in Las Vegas all my life and have been married for almost 14 years. We have four children and I really want to go to school here (we don't want to uproot our family) and stay here and practice(I LOVE living here). Thanks for reading my long post and I am hoping someone out there can help me.

Hey, my original interview was scheduled for March 16, but I kept calling and being a pain in their ass until I got a spot for a Jan.4 interview. When I interviewed they informed us that they were going to accept people mostly in tiers so that later interviewees still had a good chance of getting a spot. It is tru though that the earlier you interview the better your chances. Keep calling, Steve's a nice guy, and youll get it bumped up. There is definitely still a good chance for you, hope that helps!!

Good idea about the title. I began to seriously consider dentistry when we were having dificulty finding a pediodontist and at the same time it became official that the UNLVSODM would open, about four years ago. I was dissastified with my job and wanted to change careers and researched dentistry and the future of it and thought it offered most of the things I wanted in a new career. I have over 100 hours shadowing and some dental assistant training, although limited, and am convinced that I am right for dentistry. Thanks for your reply.
