I have still yet to take my Ochems and my second physics. I've taken my bios, my intro chems, and the first semester of physics. Is it reasonable to start studying for the mcat this summer or should i wait. I was thinking about taking a Kaplan course this summer just for an introduction to the mcat and taking it again (bc you can take it as many times as you want i hear after you pay once) later before i actually take the mcat. Like i was thinking to either take the kaplan class or order the audio osmosis series and the examkrackers books and just studying the bios and verbals each day instead. Any advice guys? I really need to figure out what i should be doing this summmer. Thanks for the input.

While it's nice to be prepared, there's really no point in preparing for the MCAT until you've taken Physics II and Ochem I and II. MUCH of the physical sciences portion of the MCAT is going to be from Physics II(magnetism, waves, optics, circuits, etc.) and you really shouldn't learn that from a review course or review books. Also, while it depends on the test form that you get, there will definitely be OCHEM on the exam, and there's just NO way to learn that from a review course or review books.

On taking the MCAT for practice, I wouldn't do it. Some schools average your MCAT scores and get a composite, and you don't want a 12 on there from when you took it without being fully prepared.

I don't know about the Kaplan course; I didn't take it. From what I've heard, though, most people seem to think it's a waste of time.

Well i dont plan on taking the actual exam for awhile but i was wondering what i could actually do this summer to prepare, i really want to do something productive. any suggestions?
