I just got my COMLEX Score, and passed...but this is my second time taking the COMLEX. The first time got a 359 and now got a 468. Not even average for COMLEX. I'm in the fourth quintile of my class.

I'm worried because I want to do internal medicine. I'm hoping I can rock part II, but still worried that I have bad chances for chances at residencies. Any advice? Is there hope?

Thanks guys.

You won't be matching to MGH, but as long as you pass Level 2 and apply broadly you'll probably match somewhere for Medicine, ACGME or AOA. You might want to consider taking the USMLE Step 1 if you want to apply to a higher tier of ACGME IM programs, but only if you feel you will do well, i.e. at least the mean score (for IM). Doing an audition rotation and contacting to some program directors probably wouldn't hurt.

Take the USMLE and they wont even care about the COMLEX. I took both, and even though I did well on the COMLEX allopathic programs only cared about my USMLE. I'm sure if I only had COMLEX scores to go off of, they would have payed closer attention to them. I think a good USMLE, or even an average score will ease anyone's doubts about your ability to pass boards. Just my two cents.
