Hi,

I have a concern regarding general chemistry requirement for medical school admission. During the summer after my junior year in high school, I took the first semester of college general chemistry class at university and got P (passed) in my transcript. I am an incoming freshman for the fall quarter 2003 and my school does not allow me to repeat the first semester general chemistry class. Instead, the only option I have now is to take 2nd semester of general chemistry class. From what I know, medical schools require one year of general chemistry class with letter grade option. So, if I cannot repeat the course with a letter grade, (if I have P for a semester of general chemistry), does that mean I cannot apply to medical school? (Since, I do not satisfy their requirement.) How will I be able to satisfy their requirements. I would appreciate any comments. Thanks.

just make sure to take another chemistry course at some point such as physical chemistry or something. As long as you have 2 semesters worth of graded inorganic chemistry it shouldn't be a problem.

this is, of course, in addition to your 2 semesters of o-chem and biochem if you chose to take it
