advice:
do your homework. 90 is a v v good score.
yes, its true that there is a chance u may not get into any school but that applies even if u get 95!
build up ur confidence........infact do u seriously think u can and will score >90 the second time around? if u think it was a real bad exam day, go ahead...............just clear part-II and rock....

First congrats! 90 is the magic #. I do agree with the previous thread though, there are no guarantees. But, if you have a 3.0 or better on your GPA and a good TOEFL score and :

Oh yeah!! a PERSONALITY AND A HEART BEAT, just kidding ,but seriously you will be fine and again; apply apply apply you will find a home somewhere. CONGRATS AND GOOD LUCK have a safe trip back home.-Bill

any one who tells another person who passes part one with a 90 that

A) the grade 90 is not good enough!!!

B) should take the exam over!!!!!!!!

SHOULD!!!!!!!!

A) Be shot !!!!!!!!!

B) drawn and quatered!!!!!!

the same goes for anyone who lies about their grade and says " I got a 97 on my part one should I take part one over? should follow the rules above.

just kidding . the fustration is to the people who study their as-es off and get 90 or bertter and also to those who pass just with ok scores who also studied their as-es off . :meanie:

Well, mkot....Congrats on getting a good score. Go ahead take part 2 and apply. You'll be fine. And I totally agree with others there is no certainity that you will get in even if you get 90+ score. So dont be disheartened. Do your best for which you are here. All the very best to you.

Hi Mkot

I agree with Dentisjas....that you should apply and stop worrying about your 90 score being not good enough. I can't believe that there are some people to actually told you that nonsense. 🙄 Just apply and focus on your Part 2. Like some people said already, even if you get a score of 98, there is NO guarantee that you'll get in. I'm sure that there are some people with a higher than 90 score were not even given a chance for an interview. Good luck

It's very pathetic that this is the only way for you to get attention from others. It's a national board exam, not a 5th grade math quiz. Now quit whinning and hit the books for part 2 ! Good luck.

so nilebds, u seem to know-it all, right? its noit a matter of whinning, when u have let go of everything u always wanted [ in my case an osmf residency ] for a more practical lifestyle, it does matter how good or bad u score. and this is now way to attract atention. all of us a mature enough to realize that this forum is not for kiddy stuff and things talked here are serious matters.
by the way what r u upto nowadays, how much did u score?
mkot

hi folks, thanx a lot fo ur support. i have started studying for nb 2. and as u guys said there is not certainty of getting into a good school inspite of scoring above 90.
well, fixansmiles, my gpa is 3.82 and toefl 287/300. and as u said, anything above 3.0 is good. what say?

Well, I am smart enough to know that I don't know everything, although I am pretty confident that I know much more on this particular issue than you do. I don't want this to turn into a personal vengeance, and if you do than I can't help much.
But don't you think it's kind of selfish of you to think that you are the only one here who has left something behind ? We're all in the same boat buddy, so "quit whinning already". Now do you see my point more clearly ?
Why are you interested all of a sudden in what I'm doing ? Are you trying to prove that your score in part 1 is better than mine ? Talk about mature behaviour and "kiddy stuff", huh ?
You know what I just realized, now I'm feeding into your attention deficiency, so I will stop.
Good luck growing up, and please stop wasting everybody elses time doing it.

I think I speak for all of us here. You are aces in our book. You seem to be a very intelligent and or hard working person. my suggestion is pass part two and when you are done help anyone you can here on SDN improve themselves and there scores. If that is not your cup of tea then we wish you all the best.
You are going to do fine Doctor.- God Bless and Good Luck 👍

I had 87 in part 1 and I got in, most schools do take into consideration alot of other factors when making these decisions.

Hello Mkot.
I apologize about misinterpreting your intentions. The way in which you lay out your words makes a big difference in how people get your message. But that's not the point now. I might have been a little bit paranoid about it all, or just simply stressed out.
Anyways, I would be glad to give you feedback from my experience with dental school applications and interviews. You can also find most of it by browsing my other postings. I have so far interviewed at UColorado and UOPacific, and have been waitlisted at both schools. I also have an interview this month in Florida.
I also am not sure if I have any pointers for you on part 2. I scored 82, which is a good score by my books, but I'm sure some others have better advice for you than me on that issue. All I did was study the dental decks (2001) and the released past exams, and gave it my best shot. If I had the chance to do it again, I would have taken some extra time off work.
Sorry again if was mean. I did not intend to be.
Good luck.

What, in your oppinion is a good score then? I scored 87 in part I and was accepted in two schools. Scores is not the only thing schools are looking for. Your skills, personality and experience have a lot of weight also.
This forum has a lot of information, but has one bad side -- it emphasizes the importance of the scores way too much.

I couldn't agree more. Heads up.
Good luck at the Pacific too ! It's a great school. I am waitlisted there, so by some miralce we might become class mates.
If you don't mind, what response did you get from Colorado and UCLA ? What was your impression of both schools, and how would you copmpare them to the Pacific ?
Thank you.

hi nile, good to hear from u. well, for me scores dont make a big deal, its just that everyone i know keeps telling me to retak prt 1. , maybe thats the reason i have this thing im my mind that i have not done well. but as u said, its much more than just scores.
sj35 is absolutely right, its th overall package that schools see.
and, any form of help , in any way is welcome. scoring 82 in part 2 is really good, and congrats for that. u have the experience and maybe u can share with me the do's and dont's.
plz guide me, as far as applications are concerned, what do schools see.
i have a decent academic record and [ nb1 -90, gpa-3.82, toefl-287/300 ] and also certificates of extra-curricular stuff. do colleges see that? i am not sure.
plz guide
thanks inadvance

Hey mkot
Pt 1 of 90 is good.I think u shd conc on pt 2 And remember one thing nobody leaves anything unless u think u have something better going on for u here. I am here to be with my family and struggling for admission with a pt 1 of 91 and pt2 of of 85. I am a post grad with 20+ yrs of teaching experience in India. It was my choice to be with the family and have left behind a gr8 career back home.If things dont click i am ready to go back. I have kept my options open.
Looks like u r aiming to apply for next yr and ur pt 1 is more than good for most of the schs. Good pt 2 will give added weightage.Dont be in a hurry to give it Take ur time Study well and then appear.even this yr u can try for some schs where the deadlines are not up. Finally its how u present urself at the interview is what matters the most i think.
Go ahead dont be discouraged Its just the begining of ur career. ALL THE BEST.Things will work out

Hi Guys, I am new to this forum and very desperate to know about nb2 preparation.as i scored very less in pt 1 ie 84,it would be very helpful if anyone could give me some tips on pt2 :scared:
