1. Rank priority to designate R/S Chiral center
- The chiral center has following 4 groups
1) CHO
2) CH2OH
3) CH=CH2
4) C (triple bond) CH

2. Rank the following compounds in order of decreasing solubility in water
1) 2-fluorobutane
2) 2-butanol
3) 2-chlorobutane

3. How many peaks would you expect to see on a proton NMR spectrum
of E-buten-2-ol?

1) I prioritize based on the element attached and then MW and then multiple bonds. Accordingly, I think it should be CH2OH, CHO, C(triple bond), and then double bond.

2) 2-butanol, 2-fluorobutane, and 2-chlorobutane

3) i think 4

is this right?

To question number one you view a c=0 as c-o-o therefore the CHO will have a higher priority then the CH2OH which is a c-o-H. My answer would be CHO, CH2OH,the triple bond and then the double bond.
Tip: draw each molecule out, it helps for visualization
with regard to question number 2 I think you are right. Obviously 2-butanol is most water soluble. Then since flourine is more reactive than chlorine, it will be more water soluble.
With regard to question number 3- i think its four.
