Can anyone suggest a safe place to find a 1 bedroom apt or condo/townhouse around Farmington, W. Hartford, Hartford or nearby that is affordable on an intern's salary ($800-1100/mo rent)? Any good/safe family-friendly neighborhood close to UConn Med or Hartford Hospital? I'd appreciate any help as I'm not familiar with the area...THANKS!

Vaguely familiar with central CT.
I think many residents live on Brittany Farms Road in New Britian where you can rent a 1br-2br apartment for about $900/month. It is close to all the area hospitals. If you have kids you should stick to West Hartford, Farmington or Avon for the school systems.

I heard some people like Park Place in Hartford..

Some residents who are staying a while buy their own places, you can get a 1br condo in a nice area for $130,000 or so I've heard..

Congrats on your match to surgery, word on the street is that this was a competitive year generally.

I just opened my e-mail and saw who's in the intern class! (I just returned from a trip). I'm excited about starting residency @ UConn and meeting everyone. 😀

Have you guys contacted the program yet? Does anyone have any info regarding actual dates of orientation and stuff?

Is there any way to have a private forum or something?
