dogdayafternoon

Hi all...

I was wondering if you guys know how to lessen the anxiety that comes from being on waitlists. I am on the Rosalind Franklin waitlist and they won't give me an answer till June. Apparently it will be 95% rejection as they claim their entire class is filled and only a very small amount of students decline their offers. What blows about this is that I would need to submit a new AMCAS in June so I have to write a brand new personal statement.... 👎

Already I know that coming to SDN and listening to all your acceptances makes it worse but I'm not going to stop coming here. I really like you all!

I think the most effective way to deal with anxiety is to have a second plan. Since you are on a waitlist and will most likely (though hopefully not!!) be rejected, start thinking about what you WANT to do. If you have to reapply, what are you going to do with the extra year?? Do you want to travel, do mission work, volunteer, get a "real" job, go back to school, etc, etc????
Think about what you really want to do and not what you think you should do. Something that will make you happy (heck, if you have to wait for another year, it might as well be a good one). Also, prepare yourself for the bad news. Make yourself feel better by knowing that it's OK to be rejected once. You'll just try again.

I hope that helps.
In the meantime, Prozac???? (Just kidding)

Benzodiazepines. I prefer lorazepam for both its strength and duration.

Other than that, I've got nothing for you. Sorry.

Best of luck.

How about clonidine?
