Help with shadowing

What is the best way to initiate shadowing. I am finishing up grad school, which is no where close to my personal dentist. I also no longer have access to a "pre-health profession advisor" to hook me up.

Should I cold call a randm private dentists office ( is this appropriate?)

Should I cold call a dentist office which is part of a hospital?

Thank you for your help.

go through the phone book and call. that's what i did. say you're a predental student looking to do some observing and ask if Dr whoever allows that. no sweat.

  1. Dental Student
General practice dentists are preferable, but I found that in reality hospitals are much more willing to take on volunteers.
My local hospital has a volunteer office, and I just called them and asked if I could shadow/volunteer at the dental clinic and they hooked me up.
