Hi,
I am 94 graduate and i moved to states in Dec 98 and passed my step 1 in 4th attempt bcos of my bad planning and noone told me that number of attempts are important. But got score 89 and then step2 in 1st attempt and got 85. I need to know if i ve any chance of getting residency and which programs should i apply. I do not have any contacts .I'm doing research in internal medicine on cardiac failure but i am not sure about my residency if anyone can help in telling me programs about int.med. and family practice.
I'll be really grateful.

Have you been in training or practice since graduation 9 years ago? If not, your chances are much worse, IMHO.

There are plenty of IM programs around and while taking 4 attempts to pass Step 1 doesn't look good, if you've been away from basic sciences for that long, it doesn't exactly suprise me.

At any rate, no one can tell you accurately what your chances are. If you wish to start a US residency, the only way you'll know is to try.

Best of luck...

Thanks Kimberli,
I was working as an internist before moving to United States till December98.
