Now that many of your are now deciding on which ONE of the numerous med school invitations to accept, I thought it would be appropriate to get your opinion on how the cost of going will influence your decision?

Do you go the school with the highest bid?

I know there are many other factors that go into deciding on which medical school to go to, but I wanted to focus on finances.

My humble pre-allo opinion is that it is best to avoid ridiculous amounts of debt (180k+), especially if you think you may be interested in something like primary care down the road.

On the other hand, there are lots of opportunities to get help with your loans if you do decide to go primary care, such as national health service corps and state-specific loan repayment programs.

Also, if you're going to spend 4-5 of the most stressful years of your life at the school you choose, you should choose a school you're passionate about.
I wouldn't choose a school with a big name that I didn't like just because I thought it was a good investment-people from all med schools go on to do great things.
