I've always wanted to be a doctor, but as I'm gettting closer to senior year, I realize that I don't have what it takes to become one. I lack study skills and just don't have the concentration needed to be a doctor. But I've wanted to be a physician since I was a kid. I plan on majoring in biochemistry, and I was wondering if there are other options for me? Med school is definately not for me, as I can't focus that long. I'm willing to try my best, but I'm not med school material. So is there any other options for me in the "medical" field without an MD? I'm considering psychology but I'm not too sure on that. Maybe pharamacy? I just want to know what other options there are and what it's like to be that. Thanks!

Nursing (this has like 20 different fields within itself like RN, nurse anesthesiologist etc), Physician's Assistant, Physical therapist Dental hygienist are some that come to the top of my head. Pharmacy school and dental school are basically as rigorous as med school.

The thing with the other high end healthcare jobs (dentist, psy.D, pharmacist, PA, CRNA, Physical therapist) is that they all require a large time comitment (2+ years beyond college) and a fairly rigorous course load.

Also, study skills are something that is learned. It is very possible to excel in college after doing poorly in HS, provided that you make the necessary changes. So I wouldn't blow-off career aspirations based on high school performance, or a lack of good study habits (as long as you're willing to change them).

👍

You're only in 10th grade? Have you taken any APs or IBs yet? Why do you think you have bad study habits?

Plus, majoring in biochemistry is a feat unto itself. I'll make the argument that if you can knock off a decent GPA majoring in biochemistry (3.6-3.8 range) you have the skills to succeed in medical school.
