Which schools have higher residency matches into the more "competitive" specialities?

For example, I put Touro-MI in excel, ~101 matches. About 70% were FP/IM/Peds, leaving about 30% for the more competitive.

PCOM students predominately specialize. Only about 30% go on to do a primary care field.

don't you have to match IM before you can sub-specialize into e.g. cardiology?

For a good deal of them yes you first do IM, but schools still report how many people go into non primary care fields. They may do follow ups with theri grads etc... All I know is PCOM is supposedly the osteopathic school with the least amount of students going into the primary care field.

Based on the USNEWS link, it appears that TCOM which has one of the highest MCAT averages (~28) is the 4th highest Primary Care producer.

For some reason I would have thought the opposite to be true. Maybe just goes to show that people with low MCAT can and do specialize, i.e. do well on their board exams to get into competitive specialites.

Or... Maybe it shows that even though people get a high MCAT, this does not warrant the assumption that they will specialize. 😱

I believe KCUMB is about 50/50.
