Hello,

I am currently an ASCP certified histotechnician that is about to begin my undergraduate studies. If I were to do histotech work in either a hospital that does research or in a lab at my university would that count as research experience? What is the likelihood I could get any use from this skill for application purposes?
Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated.

It depends on if you would be simply doing lab tests in a hospital lab (research affiliated or not). If you are developing a hypothesis and designing and conducting experiments to validate or disprove the hypothesis, then it can be counted as research. I think your prior knowledge may give you a little headstart in finding a position in a true research lab.
