I'm getting ready for a big presentation, and was wondering if anyone knows of a good website that has historical facts regarding General surgery..(who, when, performed the first this or that).
So far I can't find much just surfing the net.
I'd really appreciate any links or bits of advice.

The medical library at your hospital should have a copy of a book or two on the subject....http://www.amazon.com/History-Surgery-Harold-Ellis/dp/1841101818

or

http://www.amazon.com/Illustrated-H...9825663?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1173724351&sr=1-4 (I have this one).

There's also a short treatise:http://www.medicalbooks.com/skin-surgery.html

A list of other websites links here: http://surgsoc.ucc.ie/interest/history/history.html

I bought the Illustrated History of Surgery by Knut Haeger. (Same as Dr. Cox, but mine is the 1988 revision---no endoscopy, etc, but 98% the same). Got it on 1/2.com for like $12. Great read.

first chapter of sabiston's has a good good review; it should be online
