How did you guys enter the hobbies and how many? This sounds really cheesy, but I am thinking about putting down for hobbies:
Learning Spanish, cooking (making cakes form scratch ),also I was thinking about biking and running.I will put only 2-3max since I have only 10 other activites that are significant. It seems so lame to put this stuff in. What do you think about it? Are you guys planning on putting the hobbies? And how serious the hobbies are?

ummm maybe I should not have said cakes from scratch, for the privacy reasons and people could laugh

I only put down one hobby (piano). If you include them, you might want to consider putting them in one entry (titling it "Various Hobbies" or something). I don't know about the baking cakes from scratch...I mean, I like eating cakes made from scratch, but not sure if it belongs in the hobby section.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to include hobbies or not... I thought about adding sports and fitness because I love going to sporting events for my school and love to run and play sports and stuff but keep feeling like I'll feel weird adding it... do you think most people do include some hobbies?

I think it shows well-roundedness, especially if it's something you do regularly.

mmm, cakes from scratch! I think specifying it (rather than just "I like cooking"...) gives it more personality. But that's just me; I'm not even applying for 2 more yrs.

I listed canine obedience training; Im working on visiting therapy dog status.

I didn't want to start a new thread just for this, so hopefully someone can answer my question.

For those of you who are putting hobbies down, what are you putting for the starting date? For example, I'm listing swimming, horseback riding, and reading (grouping them all together). Swimming and reading are two things that I've loved to do all my life (I've been able to swim since I could walk, and as soon as I learned to read it became my favorite hobby), and I've probably been horseback riding for about 10 years.

Should I really put down a date for when I was like 2, or should I just put something like the start of college, since that seems to be what is really important to adcoms?

Your situation is a bit different than mine since I only listed 1 hobby. However, I think that putting the start date very early (rather than the beginning of college) is better because it shows that this is something you've been doing regularly for a long time. Committment, dedication, all that nice stuff.

Thanks for the opinion! 👍

I lift weights. I wouldn't call it a hobby though... more like a TRAP because now if I stop I'll lose all the gains I've made over the years.

Edit: Oops, I skimmed the OP's post and thought it was just asking for hobbies in general. I don't plan on putting the above in my application.
