Hofstra
Pros
  • Innovative problem based learning curriculum
  • Smaller class size
  • Beautiful and new, near NYC for networking opportunities

Cons
  • Mandatory classes, no recorded lectures
  • Less established school
  • Interested in biotech. Not positive there are great biotech research opportunities in the associated facilities

MCW
Pros
  • Established school
  • Recorded lectures, non mandatory classes
  • Great vibe on interview day

Cons
  • Extremely large class size

Summary: I’m interested in academic medicine and teaching with a focus in biotechnology. Anywhere with great networking opportunities would be awesome, and I’m out of state for both schools. I’m not familiar at all with either school’s reputations.

If you're interest in academia/research, I'd recommend MCW. They have a large research focus and is itself a large academic medical center.
