I did a thorough search, and I apologize if this has been adressed else where. But I am trying to figure out the difference between waitlist and hold.

I am on the waitlist at one location, and hold at another. The woman said hold is not ranked, but I know in the waitlist I have a ranking.

From my impressions, hold can mean 1 of two things.

a) a fancy word for waitlist

b) we want to hold on to you and see what happens as we finish up interviews.

Anyone have more thorough information straight from the horse's mouth. Anyone here been in a hold category last year and can tell us the outcome and what happened and what you did would be helpful.

Also which schools waitlist and which put you on hold.

Could I ask which school you are on hold at?
That will mean a lot, as different schools have different terms.

I am on hold at ETSU and that is like a waiting list but not really.
It all depends.

I don't think a "hold" can extend past mid-May. Waitlists usually do.

Other than that your impression is about right, as far as I know.

Just received word that I'm in a hold category at Case, and will be notified by April 15 of my final status.

After mulling that over, I decided that this is better than a waitlist. Two things can come from this:
a) acceptance
b) waitlist

I figure if they wanted to reject me, they wouldn't have waited.

On the other hand, it of course is equal to the waitlist if they do not send out your standard waitlist letter. Damn.

Anyone ever been sent a waitlist letter from Case without the having to wait for April 15th?

Damn this website! Had I never found this place, I would have never bothered mulling over minute details of a friggin letter! 🙂
