Love for people and an urge to help them...
An ability to deal with a decade of training so you can get a job where you will work 80+ hours a week and get little to no recognition for it.
for a surgeon: sadism and a perfect intellectual detachment from the human condition.
for a PCP: masochism and a human disregard for distancing intellectualism.
for a lifestyle specialist: a slacker's heart inside a gunner's body.

A physician should love their craft. Good and bad parts. You don't go through all of that training to get up and say you hate your job because of x, y, and z. There are ups and downs in every profession.
That's some bull****. Go see a parent-inflicted "nonaccidental trauma" that dies and report back with your love for the experience. There are all kinds of things that straight up suck in medicine, and what those things are / the impact they have vary from person to person. I think it's much more about being able to tolerate the bad without having it weigh you down and appreciate the good
