Does anybody know if getting University Honors (which at my school is considered a separate major) any good? Will it make a difference?

If you mean graduating with honors for doing a senior thesis or something, I say screw it. Thats only worthwhile if you're applying to M.S. and Ph. D programs.

    Right behind you
I have heard numerous times from adcoms and advisors that it doesn't matter.

At my school it was also a big ordeal to get honors. There was actually a separate honors college, and you had to take a certain number of honors courses as well as spend a year doing research/senior thesis.

It should give you some indication about its usefulness based on the above posts. Not even people on SDN (that devote much of their time to pre-med junk) know what a separate honors programs entails.

    Totally useless.

For your application, it probably won't make or break you, but I think it could help you if they were deciding between an honors degree candidate and a normal bachelors candidate.

Even if it doesn't matter for your application, do it anyway. I did and am proud of my thesis and honors degree.
