Hi,

I recently got a letter from Hopkins saying I was on their waitlist. The letter said I would find out my location on the waitlist later.

However, I remember them saying at my interview there were high and low waitlists. Has anyone else been waitlisted at Hopkins, and if so, did your waitlist letter specify if it was the high waitlist or the low waitlist? I know they generally take quite a few from the high waitlist but have never taken any from the low list.

I got the same letter... don't know if it's high or low?

as i recall hopkins puts everyone who interviewed but wasn't accepted right away on the waitlist. i'm pretty sure they won't "rank" the waitlist until like march or april. personally, i was waitlisted and didnt get in.

I got a letter from Hopkins today saying I was on the lower part of the waitlist and that it basically meant I was rejected. So if it says "your position is to be determined" I think that means you guys are on the high part of the list and you still have a shot. Good luck to you guys 🙂

ChungMooDoc, sorry to hear that! But thank you for the info - it helps to figure out what's going on. Best of luck!!!

Lower part of the waitlist? With your stats and EC's? man...guess I'm screwed. Oh well!

I don't think there is a direct correlation between numbers and chances of acceptance. Sure it helps, but your performance at the interview, and a bunch of other random factors may play a part. I was waitlisted at Pittsburgh the day after I told them I didn't want a their full ride scholarship (and four weeks before they said they would get back) which meant I had to do 4 years of research while I was in med school. See, things like that can throw your application off. Judging from pure numbers, I do not believe I would've been waitlisted THAT quickly.. at least they would've waited till closer the date they specified at the interview.
