Hi:

Where will you be doing your internship? I know a few people who did rotations there and they had good luck finding sub-lets on the internet. I would imagine that you could find a place with some of the online services as well.

Try <a href="http://www.craigslist.org" target="_blank">www.craigslist.org</a>

Housing is getting a little more affordable in the San Francisco, even compared to just one year ago. What neighborhood is best for you will depend on what exactly you want (e.g. commute time, shopping, bars, affordability).

thanx for your responses..

if i didn't want to live in the city itself,
which of the surrounding communities would be
practical and safe ?

i wouldn't mind a 25 to 30 minute drive

Oakland and Berkeley are great (Oaktown's probably a little cheaper w/more vacancies, but cheaper is a relative term in reference to Bay Area housing). A good place to look for East Bay housing is in the free weekly newspaper, The East Bay Express, especially for share situations. It can be a true nightmare for an out-of-towner to find housing... allow plenty o' time. Consider a sublet, to get yrself oriented to the area.

what is belmont like?
