I ended up with a 24. I have a 3.5 gpa and 3.45 science gpa.

The only school I want to get into is IU, which is instate. Do I stand a chance, or should I not bother?

it would be a stretch. Are you a minority? good EC's? If not then you will have a tough time getting in.

Do minorities get in with scores as low as that?0

IU as in Indiana ?? Well you qualify for an auto interview... you'll just have to wow them at the interview

Yeah, but that would have to be a hell of a wow. Somehow I don't think the chances are very good.

Hi...Just wanted to let you know, as someone who applied to IU, they do focus on MCAT's a LOT...24 is a stretch. Minority will definitely help you. I have a friend who got in b/c of the fact that he is a minority, BUT his MCAT was a 27. If you have any questions, feel free to ask as I've been through IU's application process and am going to go through it again this year!

I did not make it into IU with a 27m and a 3.7gpa so i had to retake it now with a 40p i think i am in, but no letter yet.

27 to a 40?!?!?! I improved, and I definitely feel more comfortable, but WOW, congrats on that AMAZING improvement! What did you do differently out of curiosity?

wow 😱 nice work 👍

I wish IU took more out of state students, I'd love to move down there

UMP - what was your MCAT score and gpa? If it's high enough, you will have a good shot of getting into IU, esp if your MCAT is above 30 (viper, as another reapplicant, tell me if you agree?)

heh... MCAT is 38, but GPA is barely a 3.0 🙁

and I am moving down there in December... but I might have to go back to Michigan for school

wow. I'm in Indiana right now, and I'm itching to get out:laugh:

To OP: I know some people with low scores that got in. Forgot the details, but they basically showed extreme passion for helping people during the interview. That's something to focus on.

I thought IU= Illinois U? So am I wrong? 😕

Indiana University = IU
University of Illinois = U of I

I don't think any other school can try to lay claim to those titles

U of M on the other hand can get confusing sometimes

UMP - GREAT MCAT, I see what you mean about out of state with that GPA; however, it might be worth an application! They do focus on MCAT...not a slam dunk, but could happen! Good luck, and Michigan is amazing, so I think that would be great too!!!

How low are you talking? I mean, 24 is quite low...

Ok, update.

I got an interview at IU, mainly cause I'm in-state. I need to know whether or not to do this. With a 24, my chances are low. And I don't want to jeopardize my chances for next year. But if IU doesnt mind, I would like to try. The key is whether or not my chances of getting into IU are not good if I already applied the year before. If they aren't I won't do this. If they don't care, I would. What should I do?

I hope they dont care, I really dont think they do. I had my interview there and really this time it was even a better time then the first. If i dont get into IU medical school its DO school for me.

I had a 27 with a 3.7 BS in physics. I called them this year and they said that people with 31 on the MCAT did not get in, so its not all about the test, but I know my score hurt me last year.
