how come these threads move so slowly?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

Don't get me wrong, I read as much as I can - but with as many people as it says that are supposedly logged on... how come these threads don't move???? 😕 😕

The reason is probably that many of the people logged in are just reading, not actively posting. This is true of most online discussion boards; there are many lurkers but few people who are posting. Not that I should be pointing any fingers b/c sometimes I just read posts to get info that I need but just don't have anything constructive to add.

I agree with arsh. Additionally, when the server vanished for a week, I think many people learned to live without SDN or atleast took it out of their daily (or hourly🙂 ) routine.

they'll be back. we, er i mean they, always come back.

I've noticed the same thing; sometimes I'll post a thread and 785 people will view but only one will reply. Other times people post messages, and 30 people reply saying the exact same thing...

I think we're at the point in the season where theres not much new infor to post. Some people already have their acceptance. The majority already have their interviews behind them and are just playing the waiting game. Early in the season there was a lot of activity going on(ie when a school starts interviewing, interview format, when UCs send secondaries, which schools are rejecting, best way to fly to a certain city, etc.). At this point interviewing is old hat to a lot of people. Theres not as much informative info regarding the admissions procedures of different schools. Hence the slow moving threads these days.

I'd say ya the server move also caused some problems but I'd say the bulk of the problem is there really isn't much to post anymore for this cycle, save for OFFICIAL: Accept and Waitlist threads.

all of the above i think.i also try to use the search function as much as possible so i don't have to ask the same question or start a new thread and then be "admonished" for bringing up an old question that is "new" to me.
