Greetings from a psychiatrist.

Not a patient of mine, but a question a student asked me and I didn't know the answer, do beta blockers affect aqueous humor production, and if so how? Couldn't find it on my own lit searches.

Thanks

Beta blockers decrease aqueous production. Topical beta blockers are used in the treatment of glaucoma.

Follow up question: Is it true that only B2 receptors stimulates production of aqueous humor? That's what I've been taught from sketchy and FA. Does B1 stimulation produce aqueous humor?

FA says betaxolol (a selective B1 antagonist) decreases aqueous humor production.

So I guess it's both B1 and B2 stimulation which produces aqueous humor?
