First of all, I'm not racist at all. I have friends representing every race. Second, my thread was a fun sarcastic thread making fun of all of those idiots who choose medical school for the wrong reasons, prestige, respect, and money...what little of that is left in medicine these days, anyway.
So, my reply in my other thread regarding asians and persians was a generalization. In my experience, I have found that the asian and persian races place a lot of emphasis on education...which is great. There is nothing wrong with that. Also, from my experience, I have seen that out of all of the different races, the asian and persian races seem to gravitate the most toward the more high paying professions that have a prestigious reputation associated with them. This certainly doesn't mean that I'm racist at all. I'm just making observations based on what I have found throughtout my college experience. Again, some of my best friends are asians and persians and they are truly great people.
My whole argument in my previous thread was why does someone choose medical school to get prestige and respect? Why does someone get their self-worth, self-respect, and confidence based on how others view them? If someone is really healthy minded and grounded in good morals and values, then they will never pick a career path based on superficial criteria.
So, in conclusion, all of you over-sensitive, insecure people shut the f&*% up. Thanks.

Mikdoc, you say, "I have friends representing every race." Oh DO YOU? Every race huh? Wow you're so amazing. How did you manage to befriend all these people from around the world? Incredible. So EVERY race is represented in your little mosaic of non-white friends, huh? I'm so impressed. You really are cultured. There's absolutely, positively no way you could be racist at all. Probably the ONLY person in the world who can make that claim, you AMAZING person you.

Lizard King,
I appreciate your kind words. Many people compliment me all of the time stating how smart and articulate I am and how I am able to relate so well with so many different kinds of people from all walks of life. I guess I've been blessed. Thank you for your thoughts.
I'd like to get back to the original point of this thread and that is, why do people choose medical school for prestige, respect, and money? I mean, where are these people's self-worth. Why does anyone choose a career path based on how the outer world will view them? Are these people really that insecure and lost?
Furthermore, isn't it scary to think that if I'm on the operating table, there's a chance that the doctor operating on me might have chosen his/her profession so that he/she could get respect and prestige. Can we make the argument that this person might be an inferior doctor because they were never passionate about their profession to begin with...and they were in the profession for the wrong reasons?
Do all of you think that these people are as pathetic as I do?
Thanks.

What do you hope to accomplish by getting these questions answered? You believe these perceptions that you have to be true, and indeed they may be. You're not going to change anything though. I believe it can be said that nearly EVERYONE who goes to medical school wants prestige and respect to some degree. In some regards, it is that very same prestige and respect for the profession that makes patients trust their physicians. I don't think it's a fair assessment that being a passionate physician and being a physician who desires respect and prestige are mutually exclusive.
I'm simply stating that there are many people in the world who are healthy minded, grounded individuals and have a high self-worth. They choose their professions because they are passionate about their career path and they don't give a rat's as* if their profession is prestigious or not.
And furthermore, I'm making the argument that people who choose a career path because it has to give them prestige and respect are insecure, lost, and troubled people. These people have to get their confidence and self-worth based on how OTHERS view them. Isn't that funny?
And, I'm guessing, you're one of the SkironMike. I have chosen medical school simply because I'm passionate about the field and I couldn't give a sh&* if it's prestigious or not. And I loathe being in the same environment as those people who choose this same profession because their parents or culture demands that they be a doctor...and that they need to get respect and prestige from their profession. Idiots.

What I don't understand is why you are asking these questions when you already have your own firm belief as to what the answers are. Do you need someone to back up your beliefs? To me, it is a sign of insecurity and a lack of self-confidence when you search for validation on a message board. Honestly, the people who went to medical school because their "parents made them" will not do well and might very well not finish. I would argue that one could not succeed in medical school and residency unless he/she has passion for the task at hand and the profession. I would also argue that the medical profession frowns highly upon physicians who regard themselves as being superior to their colleagues. The best doctors are those who respect other people and their beliefs and also earn the mutual respect of their colleagues.

Hey LizardKing,
What do you mean NO ONE thinks I'm funny. Are you going blind or do you just have selective vision? Did you not read rickmyster78's reply right after my last reply. You obviously find no sense of humor in my posts because your rod up your @ss is too far wedged up there...and in your case, surgery is most likely out-of-the question. Your case is probably just way too complicated for even the most talented medical specialists to deal with.
It must suck living with a 10-foot rod rammed up your @ss on a day-to-day basis. My thoughts and prayers go out to your @ss.

And ONCE AGAIN, since LizardKing seems to be a little slow in his/her cognitive abilities, as I already stated, I represent only ME, not MikDoc.
Again, contrary to popular belief, I'm only little 'ol me, not MikDoc.
And once again for LizardKing, I'm only me, little 'ol me.
Did I forget to mention that I only represent myself?
And this one goes out to LizardKing, I only write under one screen name...
Did I mention already that I am my own man?.....
Okay, I hope that should do it.....

LizardKing,
I would think that if someone looks at you and the only "real" thought that comes to his/her mind, not even really caring to engage in an intellectual conversation and to carry forth the idea of an intellectual debate, but instead to forgo any worthless energy that may come about conversing with the caliber of mindset that you display, and instead only imagines bending over your face and "pooping" all over it, well, I think that has got to be one of the most explicit ways of conveying to you a total lack of fulfillment for your existence.

And I didn't know that this was a contest to establish a "winner"....what a mind of a truly pre-med mentality you have proven to have....everything is a game for you huh, that you have to out-compete people for to be the so-called "winner." Just let it go LizardKing....let it rest. And go clean up that "poop" all over your face for God's sake.
Anyway, I really have no more else to say on this thread....LizardKing, you have made my neurons fall asleep sorry to inform you.

P.S. This response was directed to LizardKing who subsequently deleted his response above. His message stated that he had "won the contest" and that I was MicDoc, not Jupiter1.
