My central reason for wanting to pursue medicine is that I want a medical career where I can have the biggest impact relative to other medical professions. I want the opportunity to teach, to alleviate someone's suffering, and to develop protocols using research/evidence.
To substantiate that, I talk about TAing and having to develop protocols for labs because they were new to us; having the opportunity to explain concepts to patients (in the presence of the doctor I shadowed); and experiences from clinical and non-clinical volunteering where I could help someone, even in minor ways.
I feel this desire isn't strong, or it's naive or something. Or worse, that it sounds I should go into public health instead.
