I just found out that a manuscript I submitted has been accepted for publication. This is a lead author paper for me and I would like to notify the schools of this update. What is the best way for me to do it? Letter? Email? Phone call? If letter or email, what should I put as the contents? Do I go into detail about the subject of the manuscript or do I just put the title..etc etc. Any help would be great. Thanks!!

First... Congrats to you

I would write a letter and tell them about this. I would send it to all the schools you applied to and ask them to add it to your file. That is the standard way to handle that.

I agree with Amy. It's easier to add a written letter to your file than something said over the phone or in email.

I would briefly discuss your role in the manuscript, the authors, and the journal that is publishing it. I would not go into too much detail. Treating it like another post-secondary experience you are adding into your AMCAS application seems reasonable to me.

Thats awesome! Congrats! I actually found an error on my AMCAS application after it was recieved by the schools. What I ended up doing is calling all the schools I had a secondary sent to and I just sent them the updated/corrected version. Almost every staff was more than helpful. The only one that said it may not be considered was the University of Iowa cause they do everything online. They told me to send it anyways just in case. 🙂 Good luck!

Thanks for the help! 😀

Seems like the best way is to write a letter so I can make sure that the admissions people will see the change.
