I'm retaking a few courses that I bombed my freshman year of college. Since freshman year, my gpa has been on an upward trend. I'm graduating in about two years and I really want to attend RCSI or Trinity. Does anyone know how Irish schools view class retakes? Is the highest grade earned taken? Or are both grades averaged out? Also, how competitive is RCSI? What's the average admitted applicant's stats like?

Retaking a class you 'bombed' can't hurt unless you do the same or do worse. Just be prepared to explain why you retook it (better work ethic now, etc.) and why you did poorly to begin with.

Visible improvement says a lot, but I wouldn't suggest that they would simply ignore the courses you did poorly in.
