Every school says they match well, and many seem to offer a list of recent match years... but how do you interpret that info? In comparing two schools, how do you know which one will put you in a better position to do to the best possible residency if you don't know what your specialty will be?

You don't. It's just not something you can do at this point in the game.

matching depends MOSTLY on your USMLE score. hence, it doesn't matter where you go for med school, as long as it's a US med school.

Not really; there's so much more that goes into applications/interviews it's annoying. In some specialties, the step 1 score may either prevent or allow you to get an interview (cut-offs), but that helps mostly with interviews.
