How do you improve your timing?

I am about to begin taking practice exams...

If you run out of time on a section...do you ignore the clock and finish the section, making note of where you left off and then check your answers? A friend suggested that I not time myself on the first few exams...is this a good idea?

I think its best to do untimed practice passages but timed practice tests, regardless of whether or not you can finish them at first. Later on, start taking practice timed passages, note whats holding you back and try and fix it.

Remember, the easy questions are weighted the same as the harder ones, so do those first. Spend more time on the ones that you know you can get right.
