How do you thank LOR writers?

At the end of Spring semester 2008, I asked a prof for a LOR for an award application. I took his course in that semester. Both the request and the initial thank-you were done via email. Now that I received the award, I want to let him know and thank him again for the LOR. But would it be appropriate to do it via email again?

I would send him a card, its much more thoughtful and shows u took out the time (rather than writing an email which takes 2 minutes)
