Hi! I'm planning to take the August '04 mcat too. 🙂 I completely understand your wanting to do well on the mcat...I do, too...we all do
I feel a little underqualified to be spouting off mcat advice here. 🙂 Maybe some more experienced sdn'ers could help us out. Do you have all your pre-reqs done? I'm about to start my second year of school and am going to be taking the mcat early, I wonder if this is your plan too? I have gen chem and bio done, am in the midst of physics this summer and am taking ochem and a couple extras like biochem, genetics, and physiology next year. So it would be a bit silly for me to bust out a full length diagnostic but if you're in a situation where you have been through all of that you could and start reviewing with a good book like the EK series, Kaplan, etc. My goal for now is to really learn physics, ochem and my other sciences next year and when I have next month off to spend a little bit of time relearning gen chem as I didn't do wonderfully in it and think I could use a little relearning! 🙂 Then, next summer, I'll have nothing BUT mcat to do for a solid 2 months, which is when I plan to really pour it on. As for verbal, you could take a practice verbal to see where you are as alot of verbal is either having a knack for reading comprehension or not. I'd be careful about taking too many full lengh verbals however too early since as far as I know there isnt an endless supply out there and you'll want to pace yourself, not run out, and save hardcore prep for a little ways down the road.
But again, I am way underqualified for throwing my advice out there at this point
