If you are using EK, what is your progress in each section?

I am following the at home schedule and I am on track, but it seems that it will be cutting it a little close for my liking. It only gives you one time through each chapter.

The EK home schedule reads through each chapter 2-3 times. You will get more practice on topics already covered by doing practice tests.

the home schedule only goes through each chapter twice. The first time is a preliminary read through, and the second time is a more indepth note-taking session a couple of days later. You don't revisit anything after you have spent your two days on it.

I am more interested in how others are doing, however.

Let me know

This is this week's schedule:

verbal: done, This Saturday I do 101 passage #7

Chemistry: Ch.4

Physics Ch.6

Biology Ch.6

Organic: Ch.2

I am varying my schedule just slightly. Because I started at the beginning of January I am waiting to take my first full length exam this Friday.

I have basically been doing the same thing that they ask, just different days of the week.

i'm on week 6 of home study... I'm going to finish up few weeks earlier and at that point i'm going to go do berkeley review books (only the passages and not the material) I think this will boost my score towards the top percentiles, since berk "overprepares" you, and this will be tolerable after a strong EK foundation... I think EK has too little practice recommended (i think because they exclusively recommend their own materials and all they have are 1001 and 2 extra exams). Im doing 10 hours/day👍

I'm basically at the same point as you...we need to get in gear! I've been bad with balancing my grad school studying and my MCATs...I realized the other day that there's no point in getting great grad grades if I don't do well on the MCAT. So from now on it's all about the MCAT.

Does it help any that I'm just using my General Biology and Chemistry books from college as starters? Campbell's 6th ed. and Zumdahl's 5th ed. I'm teaching AP Biology and AP Chemistry to high school students and need it to review.

Any ideas?

just for starters?... i guess ur planning on the august mcat. seriously though u should get at least get a prep company book otherwise how do you know what's relevant or not? what if your going super indepth into transcription and memorizing all the snrps in splicing etc, when it wont be tested?

Oh, yes, I forgot to mention that. I plan on taking either the August test or next April. I plan on applying next year as well.

I have to read the books anyway for work so I hopefully it will cover what I need.

Are you saying these books cover WAY more than I need?

I hope so. If so, that's awesome. I'd rather know more than less. 😀

Not meant to sound discouraging in any way, but rather than testing how MUCH you know, the MCAT tests you in how well you can apply the limited knowledge base to a number of different problems. This is why the prep books/courses are valuable.

I started Kaplan in novemeber and just finished all my work for that class. I am now half way through the EK books.

Oh, of course. I definitely don't plan to ONLY study these books. That would be stupid of me. I have the other prep books/courses as well. I plan to study those once I finish with these. I need to review these anyway.
