  1. Pre-Health (Field Undecided)
My last semester started today and I am panicked that I might not have all of the recommended courses. Even though it is full right now I am wondering if I should try to get into this class.

As my schedules stands right now, I'll have the following courses when I graduate this May:

Chem:
General
Organic
Analytical
Biochem (abbreviated 1 semester version)

Bio:
General
Human A&P
Genetics

Math:
Calc I-IV
Upper level Stats
Dif Equ

Physics:
My major

Did I screw up by not registering for this class? Or is it one of those, just good to have.

Thanks for the input!

I'm no authority, but I view Cell Biology as even more important that a Genetics class. I would try to squeeze it in if possible.

Don't worry about it. You'll take it in med school, and no one is going to disqualify you if you didn't take a cell bio course, especially when you're a physics major.

Thanks for the replies.

My biggest concern is that not having this course will completely dissclude me from certain programs. I am not so worried about the knowledge lost.

Anyone else care to chime in with experiences? I assume most people have taken this before matriculation?

I don't think it's a requirement anywhere. The only requirement are the pre-med courses (Orgo, Gen Physics..etc). Of course what courses you took will be part of your evaluation, but in that sense, what they're looking for is that you challenged yourself in some high level science courses. As a physics major, that shouldn't be a worry. So basically my opinion is that you shouldn't sweat it at all. You'll probably get sick of cell bio in med school.

Thanks for clearing that up. I think I'm going to let it go; besides, 23 credits might have been a little much anyway.
