How are you guys planning your intineraries for interviews. Are most people flying in the day before and the flying directly after the interview or are most of you trying to spend more time around the medical school campus

I've been flying in the day before, and then leaving directly from the interview for the airport. I wish I could stay longer to explore the areas, but I can't afford to miss that much class. I figured that if the schools accept me, I can always go back for a follow up visit.

I do the exact same thing as SuzieQ3417. And I've usually flown out on a sunday and come back on a monday (when that's an option).

yea, unless u are not in school and dont have a job, u should leave the leave the day before and come back right after the interview.

i usually fly in the day before and leave ASAP... too much work to do. 😉

to offer a different approach...
i'm flying in the night before, interview the next morning, staying that night, and then leaving the next afternoon. i'm graduating in december and all my interviews are in january so i'm kinda using each interview as a mini-vacation. its gotta suck if you're in school though

i fly in the day b4, but an earlier flight so i can roam around, then interview the next day, and have a late flight so you can do more roaming after the interview....the hotel will hold your bags for the day til you pick them up to go to the airport, and this way you don't have to pay for a 2nd night

With Creighton I am flying in the night before, staying with a student, interview on Friday and then they take you out for dinner Friday night. So I am not leaving until Saturday morning.

At Iowa, I have family in Iowa City so I came in early, went to the Homecoming Game, drank alot, recovered on Sunday, interviewed Monday and left on Tuesday.

I also flew out the day before. I was so neurotic about my first interview that I paid extra for a direct flight, left early so I could catch a later flight if the first one got cancelled and flew back the morning after the interview (just in case people wanted to meet after the interview). My wife scoured the internet booking sites (e.g. Orbitz, Travelocity, etc.) and actually found some good deals, but it took some digging.

Hah no. I travel in the morning of the interview and leave immediately after. Too cheap to pay for a hotel and no time to waste in cities I don't know anyone in.
