I would like to know, from a Swiss medical student or doctor, who also completed a residency program in the US,in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine, how is this training perceived and evaluated by FMH Title Commission?

Does it have any positive impact on acceptance in a residency training program in Switzerland? Or working in a private practice with another doctor?

How are the three years of medical training in a residency program in the US matched to the five years of medical training in Switzerland for the same specialty?(Internal medicine, Family Medicine)

In other words, how many more months of training must someone complete in Switzerland in order to be able to practice, if one already had such a training in the US ? Are there any special forms to fill out in order to request from FMH a recognition of the training done in the US? Or any other authorities that might be responsible in evaluating such a situation, within the FMH?

Thank you.
