How long for ECFMG to certify diploma?

ECFMG tells me that it can take up to 2 months to certify my med school diploma. Now, my question: is this number for real or is it just a CYA estimate they give to be on the safe side?

If anyone has already done this, how long did it take and what country/med school's diploma was being certified--I figure similar countries may take a similar period of time?

Believe it or don't, something lights a fire under the collective ECFMG ass, and it comes pretty quickly. I went to St. George's, Grenada, had a graduation date of May, and had it before I started my internship.

I didn't have to wait very long either. Mine was from Belize (St. Matthews). I think it helps if ECFMG has dealt with your school previously, and if things don't have to be translated.

yeah, mine didn't take nearly 2 months either...more like 1 as I recall.

My certification took 1 month, I am from a Philippine medical school

Thanks, all--1 month or so does indeed sound much more reasonable, especially if the transfers between places orccur via express mail/courier.
