Neurology is a three year residency which must be preceded by one year of internal medicine training. I'm not sure about general surgery, although I think it is either 4 or 5 years. Of course, that's usually followed by a fellowship.

Hi...

General Surgery residencies are a minimum of 5 years postgrad training. However, some programs, especially Academic ones, will tack on an extra year or two. But to be BE in General Surgery, the minimum requirement is 5 years (and more training if you are interested in a sub-specialty).

Medschool.com has a nice page with basic information about most of the fields, including length of training time. You might check it out.

Hope this helps.
